A passion that surpasses all understanding may be when a person spends many hours a day praying and reading the Bible. Some may have the discipline such as this and we wonder how they find the time. But when you really think about, these people must have a good grasp on how much the power of God can be a strong light to brighten the path that we should follow.
Think about it. There are those that spend maybe as much as two to three hours a day working out at the gym. What would happen if the same amount of time was spent in fellowship with God every day. It would be hard to measure the rewards that God would give such a person.
What is more important, strength of body or strength of spirit? Many would say strength of body is more important because it is something that can be readily seen by us as well as others with whom we wish to impress. But yet is impressing others more important than impressing oneself? Others may carry jealousies towards a person of a better physique. Envy is another trait.
Luke 1:80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel. NKJV
But yet strength of spirit may not be as readily seen. Especially to those that do not believe. But yet strength of spirit is a gift that would keep on giving. It would show us the way to truth and happiness. It would tell us where to go and what to do. It would give us meaning in life that surpasses all understanding.
Judges 16:12 Therefore Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them, and said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" And men were lying in wait, staying in the room. But he broke them off his arms like a thread. NKJV
So, in other words, strength of body shows others and may impress others. But yet strength of spirit would be the true test of how strong we are inside and help us harness the power of God's love. This love can be shown towards others, which when you really think about it would be many times more powerful a sight than the strength of body.
This is not to knock the strength of body, because of the endurance it creates without and within. Just imagine if we had both. What amount of strength would we have then?
Life is rather mysterious when we try to understand what we should do. We are given signs along the way that point us in the right direction, but yet we often dismiss them because we are too busy trying to be a better person rather than what we could truly be.
In order for us to be the kind of person we could be, with the most potential, we should first get in contact with our spirit and try to ask God for help in ascertaining what it is that we should do to strengthen that spirit.
Do you ever feel like you are just existing? That life just goes on and you feel that life just does not have a whole lot of meaning? I think all of us get to that point at various times in our lives. It could be at times when we are low, or when there has been, or as a result of, a major shift in our lives.
Another possibility is that there are times in your life that you feel very busy and you are accomplishing a lot. Then all of a sudden there is a major shift, and things aren't as busy as they were before. Then you find yourself slipping into a slumber of sorts where you feel rather disjointed and you don't know how to get out of the doldrums.
It is times like these that you need to take the bull by the horns and try to make a change. Granted, easier said than done. But unless you find a way to get out of complacency, you will find yourself getting deeper and deeper into it. Sometimes fears will arise or an unwillingness to change from what you are used to into something that has more worth.
Sometimes a lack of knowledge can also be a fearful experience. You don't know what to do now, so to speak, so rather than trying to make a change you find yourself on some whirlwind to nowhere.
This is a time when the spirit within us starts to feel uneasy and misunderstood. Our spirit becomes dormant before we realize it is happening to us.
This is a time when we need to pick up the Bible and just start reading. Try reading a few chapters of the Bible a day starting with Genesis. Sometimes reading the Bible on a daily basis is a good way to jump start our lives. It is as if the word of God has a power all it's own. Or maybe it is God who gives us even more hope because we are spending more time with Him.
Whatever the case may be, we need to strengthen our spirit more each day by reading the Bible and praying. I have noticed that it is a good thing to pray for others rather than just myself. Sometimes in selfishness and thinking of how prayer can benefit just ourselves we forget that God knows others that need a prayer or some kind of love. Sometimes strangers are unwilling to accept love from strangers because of the fear factor. So in this case praying for others would not only help them, but make you feel like you are accomplishing something.
So in order to be strong in spirit, it would seem that reading the Bible is important. Just as important is the praying for others. And also to keep diligently praying for Gods help in discovering new motivations and inspirations in our own lives.
Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes in life we get lost and can not find our way back to your love. We may be victims of complacency or our own desire not to change. Please strengthen our spirits every day and keep us safe. We know you are there for us Lord, and help remind us of that often as we as humans often forget this. Help us in this coming week to find your love in different ways. We thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.
Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.
Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless.
