What Do We Do From Here?
November 21, 2004 | Link To Us | Index | This sermon is for your spiritual edification and to spread a little hope and cheer. Genesis 16:7-8 What happens when you get up in the morning and you don't know what to do today? Your mind searches for the tasks that you should perform, the tasks that you need to perform, and the tasks that you are required to perform. The required, such as going to work, takes precedence. But going to work could satisfy all three. It does this because we are what we make of things. Sometimes the truth eludes us, and we don't see the point of life as easily as we would like. Should we do this or that? Should we get up and attack the morning with a lot of energy or should we just fall into the woodwork? God gives us many choices in life. He gives us blessings when we least expect it. And the bad thing about it is that we often dismiss Gods contribution to our life as just dumb luck. Why is that? Is it because we have programmed ourselves to do things certain ways without really understanding why we do the things we do? Who really knows? But that is just it, who knows. But yet God knows. God knows all things. He knows what you are meant to do on this earth. He knows why you do the things that you do even better than you do. So don't you owe it to yourself to seek Gods guidance as often as possible? We can go through life thinking we know what is best for us. But unless you have some kind of guidance you are just taking a shot in the dark. You are just going through the paces with no clear vision of the proper direction or whether what you are doing really matters. First of all, does it matter to God? Well the only way to figure that out is to ask Him. "Hey God, am I doing the right thing by doing this thing I am doing in my life. Be very specific with God. Point to one area of your life and ask for guidance. And here is a very important point that a lot of people never even realize. That is to really listen to what God has to say. You can pray for an eternity, but unless you are willing to listen for what God has to say, you are just spinning your wheels. But how do you listen? Why not just sit there after prayer and wait for an answer? A lot of people may think that this is frivolous and you may be sitting there forever. But don't just sit there. Clear your mind of the things that life is and has given you and look to God. Think about a possible answer. Get a piece of paper and write down words or thoughts that you are having while you do this. You never know, you might get a clue from God that will unlock a door you never thought would open for you. Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for all your many blessings. Thank you for giving me a life where I can truly seek your guidance that you give so freely. Help me in this coming week to seek your guidance as often as possible. Because without your answers to prayer, Lord, I am like a dry leaf that that gets stepped on and returns to dust without accomplishing anything in life. Amen. Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen. Hi, my name is Bryan, a messenger of hope who would love to hear from you. God Bless. © 2004 Bryan Hill Feedback in Response to this Sermon |
