It has been said that the sea cucumber is a creature that vacuums the ocean floor. During this cleanup process, if it is attacked it can turn itself partially inside out, ejecting part of it's intestines, which are later regenerated. I remember seeing a sea cucumber when I was a kid and it looked rather strange and not particularly pleasing looking to the human eye. But yet God, in His infinite wisdom created such a creature with a purpose.

Just like God created us with a purpose that we are not often aware of, but yet we trudge on trying to do the best that we can accomplishing this or that and quite often not doing what we should be doing. Which is ........ ?

I mean, come on, we all have a purpose here on this planet. Some of us will think they contribute to society and may even ask others what contribution they make to society. Often the person who is asking this question, has no idea what their purpose is, but just wants to make you feel guilty for what they perceive to be a non-contribution on your part.

I assure you that I am not one of those. I am just asking you for the shear reason of pondering the wills of your ways. Now some people will say, "Why bother with trying to find out why you are here, just go with the flow and do the best that you can?" That may be a good philosophy, but then are they contributing to society or are they just making themselves heard at the cost of somebody else's sanity?

But really, why are you here? Is it to accomplish something? Do you have a place in society? Or do you wallow in self-importance way too much without even realizing it?

The key here and the point I am trying to make is that God is there for you to go to for guidance and not only give you a reason for living, but also to help give you purpose and give suggestions for making the world a better place to live by contributing to society in ways that are beneficial to mankind or womankind depending upon your perspective.

Which leads me to another point and that is that God wants you to accomplish something in your life. What is it you ask? Well you won't know if you don't go to Him in prayer and ask Him. He is not going to come up to you and hit you over the head with your destiny. Although some people may argue this point with me to one extent or another.

Just give God a chance to explain. Give Him your time and not just penciling Him into your daily scheduler notebook for five minutes three weeks from next Saturday. I mean some real time. Let Him know you mean business and really spend sometime in prayer and listening to what He has to say.

Now I know what you're thinking. "Listening to God, is this guy nuts!" No I am not, although I am sure there maybe a person or two that may argue this point as well. I mean really listening. Take a piece of paper and a pen and jot whatever comes to mind after praying the prayer, "God I am here and want to know what you want for my life. What is my purpose here on this planet, and thank you for you response. Amen." Try it someday. Write down a hundred words and/or phrases after prayer, there might be some words of wisdom somewhere between all the conscious mind clutter that often permeates our lives.

And we do have a great deal of clutter on our minds. Some of which we are aware of, and sometimes, if we spend too much time, sitting there and just thinking, a mishmash of thoughts that may even scare us for one reason or another. This isn't to say we are weird, it just implies that we may have too much on our minds and we just need to filter it out, like the sea cucumber does as it filters out all the food from the said on the ocean floor. Although, this sea creature does it for an intended purpose. Unlike us that waste our time with needless anger and feelings that were manufactured as a result of some person who at one point in our life, filled our craniums with meaningless jello hoping to make us think something that they may not even know what it is.

OK, OK, you are probably thinking that I am that person. I admit that sometimes I go on and on, but I do like to think that there is a purpose to what I have to say. I like to think that if you sift through all the sand that I write sometimes that you will come to ideas or thoughts that may have some meaning for you in your life. Some pearl of wisdom that is related to your life in some way that may hit you on the head and make you realize what your purpose is, and hopefully help you to think that there is a point to the human race and why we are here.

So listen to God. Give yourself a chance. Set aside some time for God. And really listen to what He has to say.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to find a purpose in my life. Help give me the insight to know what I need to do to make my stay here on this planet for fulfilling and beneficial to other people here on earth. Thank you for that purpose, and I thank you for all your many blessings. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.
