John 3:16-17 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. TLB

Have you ever seen an aardvark fly? Probably not, unless of course you are an alien from outer space and your planet has aardvarks that fly, but I am guessing that nobody presently on this planet has ever seen an aardvark fly. Or maybe they have.

How about a zebra that flies? Or maybe a cow that has actually jumped over the moon? Probably not any of these have you seen unless you have an active imagination or have seen such things in dreams.

That is the truly wonderful thing about dreams. You may see things that you would never even imagine seeing in real life, but yet somehow when you see things like this in your dream, you actually have yourself believing that these things exist and are doing what they always do.

So in other words the dream state makes us believe in some things that we would never even consider as possible in the awake world.

So why is it so hard for people to believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour? Some people don't regardless of the evidence of Jesus' existence as written in the Bible. They do not believe that He is the Son of God. But yet in their dream state they have themselves believing that aardvarks actually do fly. Makes you think doesn't it?

Jesus died on the cross to save us all from our sins. He did this because He loves us and wants what is best for us. He has given us the chance to live life, and to try to do good things for others and not just ourselves. Some people believe that doing works is what is necessary in life. "Works" being the active word here. This is what some religions believe. But yet I have heard other religions say that Works are not important.

Now by Works I believe that means doing things for others for the glory of God. This is what all people should do. What I mean by that is that people should do things for other people. Those who do not believe in Works may be thought of as selfish because they might keep to themselves. But let's put the word "Works" aside and think of it from another viewpoint.

We all live and have a responsibility to help others in some way. Some do this by having children and caring for them. Others may volunteer time to helping others through charitable organizations. We all help others to one extent or another. Even our jobs are often done to help others. And no matter what your job is, you probably help others to one extent or another.

This is a give and take world. Some people give more and some people take more. But all of us do both no matter how we may think otherwise. There are givers in this world and there are takers. I remember some time ago on a radio station there was a question asked of one DJ to another, "Are you a giver or a taker?" The response was a very quick response of, "I am a giver." This has made me wonder if such a person is really a giver or are they more of a taker than they realize.

When you really think about it, most people would like to be thought of us givers. I would hazard a guess that very few people would actually admit they are takers. But in order to be a giver, you have to do something or give something to another person. You have to make an effort to do something for another person.

Jesus Christ was clearly a giver. He gave His life for all mankind. There is no question that He was a giver and still is. He enters the heart of many and gives them shelter from the ravages of the storms of life. And all you have to is ask Him to come into your heart and be an important part of your life.

Now you may never see an aardvark fly, unless it is in your dreams. But you will see Jesus' love inside you as you become closer to Him and learn to take His love and share it with many people who need a shoulder to cry on.

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for all your love. Help me to believe and make my beliefs in you stronger every day. Give me the insight into what is right for my life. Give me an understanding of what you want for me in my life. I thank you Lord for all your many blessings. Amen.

Benediction: Now, Lord, Bless us in our daily lives. Help us to smell the roses whenever possible, to shine our light on those less fortunate than us, and lead us in the path we should go. For you are the light that keeps our path well lit. Help us to follow it, until we meet you, in a land where milk and honey abound, a place where our most wonderful dreams are fulfilled. Amen.
